This is an online course for medical professionals wishing to learn about how to prepare for and appear before disciplinary tribunals, courts and other decision-making bodies.

The course

This practical, interactive course teaches doctors best practice in preparing for and appearing before disciplinary tribunals and courts.

You will gain experience of drafting key clinical documents and handling questions on such material in a tribunal setting. You will receive constructive feedback in a safe environment.

You will learn about:

·    The importance of creating and preserving evidence;

·     Key principles for drafting effective notes, reports and other documentation with a view to their eventual use before a tribunal or court;

·     The relationship between clinical documentation, legal standards and governance expectations;

·     How to behave as a witness when appearing before decision-making bodies; and

·     Issues of professionalism and probity when preparing and giving evidence.

The course is delivered by experienced legal professionals. It blends legal insight with clinical documentation needs, highlighting the principle of “beginning with the end in mind”.

Course format

This is an online course, delivered over 2 x 3-hour sessions around 2 weeks apart. With only 4 delegates per course, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and consolidate what you learn in a practical way. There is a short, practical exercise to complete between the 2 sessions.

This course carries 9 professional development hours – 2 x 3-hour practical online sessions and 3 hours of preparation.

The main trainer for this course will be Fiona Donnelly.

Cost

The cost for the entire course, including course materials, is £450 + VAT per candidate (£540 including VAT).

Booking Terms and Conditions

  1. CPD Training (UK) Ltd reserves the right to change or cancel its training sessions. In the event of cancellation by CPD Training (UK) Ltd of a training session or assessment, an alternative date will be offered. Should an alternative date not be available in the event of cancellation by CPD Training (UK) Ltd, any course fees paid will be refunded.

  2. CPD Training (UK) Ltd reserves the right to change the course fees.

  3. All courses are subject to availability and demand.

  4. Unless otherwise agreed, course fees will be invoiced at the time of booking. A delegate’s place will not be secured until payment has been received in full.

  5. Following submission of a booking form, written confirmation of your booking will be sent to you together with our invoice. Joining instructions and access to course materials will be sent to delegates around 1 month prior to the course start date.

  6. Subject to paragraph 1, fees are non-refundable.

  7. Any course transfer requests must be made in writing to CPD Training (UK) Ltd. Any agreed transfers may be subject to an administration fee.

  8. CPD Training (UK) Ltd cannot be held responsible for failing to cater for any reasonable adjustments unless the delegate notifies us in writing upon booking and provides relevant evidence to support the request in accordance with the procedure detailed in the joining instructions for the course.
